ANU Law Bursaries

Each semester, the ANU College of Law offers 16 x $250 textbook bursaries for LLB(Hons) and JD students who are experiencing financial hardship. In addition, the College also offers one student the Dorothy Mayhew-Hirovenen bursary in Semester 1 valued at $1,700, and one student the Littleton Groom bursary in Semester 2 valued at $900. To be eligible, students must submit the below online application form before the closing date.

Textbook Bursary
In no more than 300 words, outline the nature of your financial disadvantage and living and/or working arrangements. Please include why it’s important that you receive this bursary and what law textbooks it would assist you in purchasing. Please note, all responses will remain strictly confidential.
Dorothy Mayhew-Hirvonen Bursary
In addition to financial hardship the following criteria apply for the Dorothy Mayhew-Hirvonen Bursary: you are a female LLB (Hons) student, who is able to demonstrate educational disadvantage on the additional grounds of physical or mental health needs. This bursary is for a total of $1,700. Please note, all responses will remain strictly confidential. If you wish to be considered for this bursary, please demonstrate your eligibility by providing a response in a statement of no more than 300 words.
Littleton Groom Memorial Bursary
The following criteria apply for the Littleton Groom Memorial Bursary: you are enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Laws program; your home address is in Queensland; you gained University entry on the basis of secondary or tertiary qualifications obtained at a Queensland institution; you have successfully completed the first year Laws courses (as set out in the conditions of award), or who has successfully completed studies at a Queensland tertiary education institution that is, in the opinion of the Dean of the ANU College of Law, equivalent to those courses or studies that merits the award of the scholarship. If you wish to be considered for this bursary, please demonstrate your eligibility by providing a response in a statement of no more than 300 words.
