Karla Brenner outside the law building
"I am excited to continue exploring developing and dynamic fields of law in the course of my ongoing studies", Karla said.

I am very grateful to have received these awards and to have had the opportunity to excel in areas which I am passionate about.

Bachelor of Laws (Hons) / Bachelor of International Security Studies student, Karla Brenner, has been awarded the Maurice Blackburn Prize for Labour Law, and the Dean’s Certificate for Law and Politics of European Integrations.

“I am very grateful to have received these awards and to have had the opportunity to excel in areas which I am passionate about. I am excited to continue exploring developing and dynamic fields of law in the course of my ongoing studies."

“I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to study the impact of London exiting the European Union on the European financial regulatory system, and the future of interactions between industrial action and the scope of penalty orders under the Fair Work Act. These topics sparked an interest in both private domestic law and private international law, which I hope to pursue following the conclusion of my law studies."

“I would like to thank Dr Sarah Heathcote, Cameron Roles, Anne McNaughton, Kate Ogg, Dr Esmé Shirlow, and Dr Greg Weeks for their support and mentorship during the course of my studies."

“I respect Maurice Blackburn’s work in the field of employment law and its innovative approach to class action litigation, which is especially relevant in light of the current questions before Australian Courts at the federal level. I would like to thank Maurice Blackburn for sponsoring the Labour Law prize."

“Having participated in the 2019 Jessup competition, I am looking forward to finalising my studies in law and undertaking my Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.”
