International opportunities

International opportunities

At ANU Law, you can choose to complete part of your degree overseas via a variety of opportunities:

Study abroad

Study abroad is where you arrange your own independent overseas study and have it count towards your ANU degree. Students must complete a Studying Elsewhere Approval form and receive approval prior to departure.

Studying overseas as part of your degree can provide personal and academic rewards, adding value to your ANU experience. Independent study abroad is an option for domestic and international students enrolled in an undergraduate program at ANU.

Study abroad is not a formal ANU program and as such students are not enrolled at ANU during their time abroad. Students need to enrol as international fee paying students at their host university and pay international fees directly to their host university.

Popular options for studying abroad include short courses at the London School of Economics, Kings College London and ACICIS Law Practicum Program, You may also chose to do a semester length program through ACICIS for example. Please go to Independent Short Course Options for more information about these options.

To make an application for Study Abroad please complete the Studying Elsewhere Approval form.

Opportunities for funding in the Asia-Pacific

Employers greatly value students who show initiative and resilience in undertaking exchange studies in our fast-changing, fast-growing Asia-Pacific region.

New Colombo Plan

The New Colombo Plan enables undergraduate Australian students to apply for funding to support exchanges and other international opportunities to the Indo-Pacific region.

Click here to hear David Olsson - former managing partner of leading Sino-Australian firm King & Wood Mallesons, and New Colombo Plan Business Champion, appointed by Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop - talking to Dr Jo Ford about why ANU law students should consider semester exchanges, internships and other experiences in countries of the Indo-Pacific region.

Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarship

The Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarship supports undergraduates eager to contribute to Australia’s success in Asia. Australia will need future leaders connected to those markets, and Asia-literacy will be critical to harness these opportunities in our region.

Asia Grant Internship

The Asia Grant Internships offer students an opportunity to put their commercial and corporate law learning into action and carry out research in a legal professional workplace.
